ENGINEERING STUDY
Molzen-Corbin, an Albuquerque engineering firm, is conducting a study of our area especially as it relates to a future sanitation system. They will research sanitation systems that might fit our needs, including the recovery of the wastewater. Although there is no immediacy to this need, sooner or later we will have to find a better way of disposing of our waste.
Molzen-Corbin started this project in early January of 2001 and it was planned
for the study to be completed around the end of September. Subsequently scheduling
problems at Molzen-Corbin have resulted in extending the contract period of
performance. The District met with M-C several times, to review progress and
develop plans for a public presentation. Considerable progress has been made
in some areas but much is left to do in the area of alternatives to the use
of a single wastewater treatment plant.
-The District Board is now scheduled to meet with Molzen-Corbin personnel on
February 4th to review the status of the program and develop direction for the
follow-on effort. (changed 1/28/02)
The meeting on February 4 established a new direction for the study and the
final report will be completed in April. As soon as it can be arranged a public
meeting will be scheduled to advise residents of the results of the study.
-The current plan is for the Board to meet with Molzen-Corbin on July 22 and
arrange a public meeting on the subject in August or September. (changed 5/20)
-Molzen-Corbin has now completed a draft report and will review the report with
the District Board at the Community Center on August 14 at 9:30 a.m. (added
7/29)
-The meeting resulted in general approval of the M-C report and the plan to
issue the report, including an executive summary, in final form in the near
future. Once the Environment Department has reviewed the report a public meeting
will be scheduled. (added 8/19/02)
- The schedule for the public hearing has been agreed to between Dan Drobnis,
Project Manager, and Molzen-Corbin. The date is tentatively set for January
23, 2003.
-The public meeting is now set for January 21 at 7:15 PM at the Eldorado Elementary
School. (added 1/6/03)
